If you encounter the warning shown in the image to the right, it is because the Impact series keyboards are not M-Audio keyboards. Simply click the ‘Don’t show this again’ option and then click ‘OK’.

Here are the steps you need to follow to get Cubase up and running with your Impact GXP, LX Mini or GX Mini Controller. Impact Steinberg integration is compatible with Cubase 5 and up, as well as Nuendo 6 and up.

1. If you haven‘t yet updated the firmware in your Impact GXP, LX Mini or GX Mini, complete that step first. The firmware update files are a separate down- load available from MY ACCOUNT on our website. With the firmware update complete, move on to the next steps.
2. Locate the ‘Impact_GXP_SE25_SE61_Steinberg_Support ‘ or ‘Impact_GX-LX_Mini_Steinberg_support‘ installer included with this package and run it.
3. Plug-in your Impact GXP (or LX Mini or GX Mini ) and make sure it’s switched on (if you didn’t do so already).
4. Launch Cubase and go to Studio/Studio Setup/MIDI Port Setup.
5. Un-tick the second Impact GXP (or LX Mini or GX Mini ) port in the “In ‘All MIDI’” column:

6. Next check that Impact GXP (or LX Mini or GX Mini ) appears in the ‘Remote Devices’ list.
7. Click “OK” and exit Studio Setup.

That’s it, setup is now complete and you can move on to the fun part, learning how it all works.

Run the ‘DAW Integration Installer’ in that folder and follow the on-screen instructions.

1. If you have just completed a fresh install of Digital Performer, make sure to open the program once and quit again, before installing the Impact GXP, LX Mini or GX Mini Digital Performer support files.
2. Download the ‘Impact_GXP_SE25_SE61_MOTU_Support’ or ‘Impact_GX-LX_Mini_MOTU_Support’ file from your Account page after registering your product.
3. Plug-in your Impact and make sure it’s switched on (if you didn’t do so already).
4. Launch Digital Performer and create a Project or open an existing one.
5. Go to the ‘Setup’ menu.
6. Select ‘Control Surface Setup…’
7. Click the ‘+’ button in the upper right corner.
8. For ‘Driver’ select ‘Nektar Impact’.
9. For ‘Unit’ select ‘Multi MIDI’.
10. Please see the table below for the MIDI input and output settings you will need for each specific model.*
11. Click ‘OK’ to close the Control Surface Setup window.

Currently Nektar controllers will operate as generic MIDI devices when running Digital Performer as native applications on M1 based Apple computers.

In the meantime, you can run Digital Performer in an Intel Mac emulation layer called Rosetta and our support software for those applications will work. Please follow these steps:

1. Open a Finder window.
2. Select ‘Applications’ from the list on the left side of the window.
3. Right-click on the Digital Performer app and select ‘Get Info…’. (Image 3)
4. Tick the ‘Open in Rosetta’ option. (Image 3)
5. Close the Info window.
6. Start Digital Performer.

Impact GXP Reason integration is compatible with Reason 6 and above.

1. If you haven‘t yet updated the firmware in your Impact GXP, complete that step first. The firmware update files are a separate download available from MY ACCOUNT on our website. With the firmware update complete, move on to the next steps.
2. Locate the ‘Impact_GXP_Reason_support’ installer included with this package and run it.
3. Plug-in your Impact GXP and make sure it’s switched on (if you didn’t do so already)
4. Launch Reason and go to Edit/Preferences/Control Surfaces.
5. Click “Auto-detect surfaces”
6. You should now see Impact GXP appear as a control surface In Reason.
7. Close the Reason Preferences window.

Note: ‘**’ represents 49, 61 or 88; depending on which Impact GXP series controller you are using.

Windows:

1. Open Reason.
2. Open the ‘Edit’ menu.
3. Select ‘Preferences’.
4. Select the ‘Control Surface’ tab.
5. Click the ‘Add’ button.
6. For ‘Manufacturer’ select Nektar.
7. For ‘Model’ select ‘Impact GXP **’.
8. For ‘Controls In Port’ select ‘MIDIIN2 (Impact GXP**)’.
9. For ‘Keyboard Port’ select ‘Impact GXP**’.
10. For ‘Out Port’ select ‘Impact GXP**’.
11. Click ‘OK’.

‘Nektar Impact GXP**’ should now appear in the Control Surface setup window.

MacOS:

1. Open Reason.
2. Open the ‘Reason Menu’ and select ‘Preferences’.
3. Select the ‘Control Surface’ tab.
4. Click the ‘Add’ button.
5. For ‘Manufacturer’ select Nektar.
6. For ‘Model’ select ‘Impact GXP**’.
7. For ‘Controls In Port’ select ‘Impact GXP** MIDI2’.
8. For ‘Keyboard Port’ select ‘Impact GXP** MIDI1’.
9. For ‘Out Port’ select ‘Impact GXP** MIDI2’.
10. Click ‘OK’.

‘Nektar Impact GXP**’ should now appear in the Control Surface setup window.

Currently Nektar controllers will operate as generic MIDI devices when running Logic or GarageBand as native applications on M1 based Apple computers. We are working on updates to our software.

In the meantime, you can run Logic and GarageBand in an Intel Mac emulation layer called Rosetta and our support software for those applications will work. Please follow these steps:

1. Open a Finder window.
2. Select ‘Applications’ from the list on the left side of the window.
3. Right-click on the Logic Pro or GaragBand app and select ‘Get Info’. (Image 1)

5. Close the Info window.
6. Start Logic or GarageBand.

1. Plug-in your Impact GXP (or LX Mini or GX Mini) and make sure to switch it on (if you didn’t do so already).
2. Launch FL Studio and go to Options/MIDI Settings (image 1 for Windows, image 2 for MacOS).
3. The Impact ports should now appear in the FL Studio window as per Image 1 and 2. If you don’t see them, click ‘Rescan devices’ at the bottom of the window.
4. Please see the table below for the port settings you will need for each specific model.*
5. Exit MIDI settings

That’s it, setup is now complete and you can move on to the fun part, learning how it all works.

Here are the steps you need to go through to get Cakewalk/Sonar up and running with your Impact GXP Controller:

Download ‘Impact_GXP_Cakewalk_Support…’ from your Account page after registering your product.

Run the ‘Impact_GXP_Cakewalk_Support…’ in that folder and follow the on-screen instructions.

1. Plug in your Impact GXP and make sure it’s switched on (if you didn’t do so already).
2. Launch Cakewalk/Sonar and open the Edit menu.
3. Select ‘Preferences’
4. In the MIDI category, select ‘Devices’ (image 1).
5. Make sure the following ports are ticked (image 1):
   • Inputs: Impact GXP**
   • Inputs: MIDIIN2 (Impact GXP**)
   • Outputs: MIDIOUT2 (Impact GXP**)
6. Click ‘Apply’.
7. In Cakewalk/Sonar Preferences, now go to ‘Control Surfaces’ in the MIDI category.
8. Click on the yellow star icon at top right corner.
9. The Controller/Surface Settings dialogue box now appears (image 2).
10. Make the following selections as per image 2.
11. Controller/Surface: ‘Impact GXP**’
12. Input Port: ‘MIDIIN2 (Impact GXP**)’
13. Output Port: ‘MIDIOUT2 (Impact GXP**)’
14. Click ‘OK’.
15. Click ‘Apply’.
16. Image 3 shows how the Control surface window should now look.
17. Click ‘Close’.

That’s it, setup is now complete.

Note: ‘Impact GXP**’ where ** represents the Impact GXP keyboard model you are using.

The files necessary for using Impact GXP controllers with Bitwig are included with the latest versions of Bitwig Studio and Bitwig 8-Track. Nektar’s Bitwig integration is known to work in the latest versions of Windows, MacOS, and Ubuntu.

1. Plug in your Impact GXP and make sure it’s switched on (if you didn’t do so already).
2. Launch Bitwig Studio. Your Nektar controller should be detected automatically.
3. Go to Files > Settings > Controllers to confirm that your Nektar controller is listed.
4. Check the ports match that of images 1 (MacOS) or 2 (Windows).
5. If your controller is not automatically detected press the ‘Add controller manually’ button, choose your Impact GXP model and ensure the ports are set up correctly as in images 1 (MacOS) or 2 (Windows).
6. Click ‘OK’ and exit Device Setup.

That’s it, setup is now complete and you can move on to the fun part, learning how it all works! Please refer to the user guide for further information on that front.

If Impact GXP isn’t detected automatically, try adding the controller manually. The controller’s ports should be configured as shown in images 1 and 2.

If you don’t see your Impact GXP controller listed under ‘Nektar’ when you click the ‘Add Controller Manually’ button, make sure that you have installed the latest version of Bitwig Studio or Bitwig 8-Track.

If you have deleted an Impact GXP controller in the past and are trying to set it up again, it will not be added automatically. You will need to click the Add button as shown in image 3.

The Impact GXP, Impact GX Mini or Impact LX Mini controller is compatible with Logic Pro X 10.6 (or higher) .

1. Locate the ‘Impact_GXP_Apple_Support’ or ‘Impact_GX-LX_Mini_Apple_Support’ installer included with this package and run it.
2. A dialog box will appear stating “This package will run a program to determine if the software can be installed”. Click “Continue”.
3. If a second message appears, informing that an older version of Nektar DAW integration for logic was found, click here for instructions.
4. Otherwise continue following the installer prompts until complete.
5. Plug in your Nektar controller and make sure it’s switched on.
6. Launch Logic.
7. In Logic, a dialog box will appear asking ‘Do you want to automatically assign the controls of the Nektar “Impact…”?’
8. Click “Auto Assign”
9. The Control Surface window will appear showing the Impact GXP, GX Mini or LX Mini icon. Close the window.

That’s it, setup is now complete.

If you do not see the message detailed in step 6, or if the Nektar DAW integration is not working following, complete these steps:

• Open the ‘Logic Pro’ menu at the top left part of your screen and select ‘Control Surfaces/Preferences’.
• In the window that appears, select the ‘MIDI Controllers’ tab. (see image)
• Check the box in the ‘Auto’ column for your Impact controller.

Note: Impact GX Mini and LX Mini are only compatible with Logic 10.6 and later.

1. Make sure Logic is already installed on your computer. If not, please install Logic first and open Logic at least once, before running the installer for Nektar DAW integration software.
2. Download the ‘Impact_GXP_Apple_Support’ file from your Account page after registering your product. If you selected Logic as your DAW, you’ll find the link below your product registration.
3. Run the ‘Impact_GXP_Apple_Support’ installer and follow the onscreen instructions.
4. Plug-in your Impact keyboard and make sure it’s switched on (if you didn’t do so already).
5. Launch Logic.
6. Create a new Project or open an existing one.
7. The Control Surface Setup window will appear to indicate that Logic has detected a new control surface. See image.
